Tips For Consistency

I’m often asked what my personal practice looks like with all the moving around that I do.

Tbh it isn’t always easy, but over the years I’ve found some creative ways to make it work.

Here are some of my go to tips for consistency.

• promise yourself just 5 mins•

showing up is the hardest part of practice. something is always better than nothing. when you’re busy or on the go a full practice can seem daunting. I always promise myself at least 5 minutes with myself. 9/10 it turns out to be more than that. You’re always happy that you did SOMETHING

•it doesn’t have to be the same everyday•

you don’t have to go 100% every practice, every day. sometimes it’s asana, sometimes it’s 300 jumping jacks, sometimes it’s a few gentle stretches. listen to your body and don’t be too hard on yourself. Just show up.

•be flexible• don’t be so rigid.

get it out of your head that your practice is just one thing. There are many ways to the way. There are so many things you can do to drop in. sometimes my practice is physical, sometimes it’s a meditation, sometimes its playing my new favourite song and dancing, sometimes it’s journaling or practicing presence and really enjoying my morning coffee. Just make time for yourself.

•your body is your home•

you don’t need a mat, you don’t need your props, you don’t really need anything except you. you don’t need to be grounded to get grounded. make your routine your home wherever you are.

•you don’t need a lot of space•

having space is nice, but I’m always most creative when I have less. Too much space = too many options and that can be overwhelming. work with what you have and tap into your creativity! You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much more you can do with less.

These have always helped me stay committed and keep my promises to myself!

What are some of your favourite ways to stay consistent?
